Block No. 12: Thanks!
Now that you've seen all 12 blocks, please tell me which 2 1/2 blocks you think Kathy designed. The person who gets them all correct and offers the best explanation gets a FREE copy of The Farms of Hawk Run Hollow + enough 40 count Parchment linen to stitch it. Email chsamplings@gmail.com by Friday, August 12 at 9:00 a.m. The winner will be posted Saturday, August 13th from The National NeedleArts Association market in Baltimore!
Thanks again to Julie Murawski for her beautiful stitching ... Needlepoint Silks for their dazzling colors ... Weeks Dye Works for their fabulous linen ... Valley House Primitives for their stunning frames ... Kathy for her endless enthusiasm and expertise ... And to all of you for your encouragement and kind comments!

A lovely block to finish with.
ReplyDeleteI love this design and the cute animals and people. It reminds me of Charles Wysocki puzzles. I can hardly wait to purchase this chart (of course unless I win)!!! My guess would be that Kathy designed parts 5, 8, and 12.Hope I win - Adele
ReplyDeleteOk, I've looked at these for so long now and all are beautiful! This is just my reasons and numbers. I think Kathy designed # 12 because the church is very similar in design to block 2, St. Peter's Church in The Village of Hawk Run. The bell, the cross, and the stained glass windows are very similar. Even the arched door. Also similar to block # 9 of CHRH (the church). I think she also loves horses and this one looks like some she has designed before in it's primitive nature. So my reason for Block 12!
ReplyDeleteSecond, Block number 5 Cats on the Prowl, The design seems to fit her consistent design of trees in a particular manner and her love and design of swans. The insects are also alot like in several other samplers of hers including, Mattie Beard 1836. So Number 5 is my second guess.
Thirdly, the block 3/4 which is so beautifully impressionistic of the painting you wrote about. I think she did half of this block because she loves and designs horses so well. She also loves detail in the work such as this one.
Hope my guesses are right!!!!! Just my humble guesses though. Lovely, all 12 of them.
I have one of Kathy's designs I bought last year when my dog passed away. Sallie's Feather Tree, I believe. After I ordered it I received it in the mail one day after my dog passed and I read the story on the back and it touched my heart ever since. I have it in my stash to stitch.

Well, I am guess she designed blocks three and four because there is so much detail. I also think that she did the swan and tree in block 4...Hoping I am right! Dianntha
ReplyDeleteBlocks 12--6 --and 3&4. Block 12 because of the church and the great window detail, the other blocks because of the detail to the animals.
ReplyDeleteThis is by far my favorite design of yours!!
hugs
I love this one! My picks that Kathy designed are blocks 9 (fishing...love the people, snake and fish.....just Kathy's style.) Block 5 - The swans on the lake and the willow tree plus the addition of 2 cats....sure looks like Kathy's loves. I will guess #12 for the half as the church looks like her work.....a great ending to the week....Sunday worship. pj from iowa
ReplyDeleteI think the blocks Kathy designed are the Fishing one, Saturday Dance and the one with the barn. They just remind me of some of her other designs.
ReplyDeleteI say 5, 7, and 9 - best reason I can use is the difference in symmetry. Reason for wanting to win? Other than a fabulous chart - I want to experience 40 count linen.
